Something we have been doing in our house is reading books about the first day of school to familiarize him with the different activities and routines that he may encounter while in Kindergarten. One of the books we read, on almost a daily bases, is Usborne First Experiences ~ Going to School, as well as having tons of fun with the Time for School Sticker Book. Since we have been doing this my son asks just about every morning, "Mom is it time to go to Kindergarten yet"? I have a feeling I am going to have a harder time with this transition then he is, but hey mommies just worry like that sometimes :-) There are so many amazing books out there and every minute we spend reading together is just such a joy. I want my son to enjoy learning, to love reading, and to do his very best in anything he puts his mind to.

It is so funny to think about thinking about school already! But it's true, you have to think and plan ahead! My mother already had just been telling me the other night about how she had to enroll my youngest siblings for their next 2014-2015 year!
ReplyDelete2 months is a short break, so they need to be geared back up for school.. Our kids get reading lists that need to be completed for a grade.. i think that is insane.. let them have a summer.

ReplyDeleteGood luck with kindergarten! My little boy starts kindergarten next year so we have already started talking about it. So far he's really excited about going, but he's going to miss his Pre-K teachers.
ReplyDeleteI seriously think that summer break is sometimes a lot shorter than it seems at first.

ReplyDeleteWe did the same for my youngest last year, reading books about kindergarten and it worked great.
